The SBCC men’s tennis team came away with two wins in Thursday’s road match at Bakersfield.
The doubles pairing of sophomore Arnaud Vangenechten and freshman Daniel Truong came away with the sole doubles point for the Vaqueros, winning their pro set 8-5. Truong’s big serving created opportunities from his forehand, while Vangenechten excelled in returning down low and closing off the net.
On the singles side, freshman Santiago Maldonado also claimed a point for SBCC, defeating Bakersfield’s Sunny Choi 6-3, 6-3. Maldonado played smart defensively and hit over his forehands well to take control of the back court.
Santa Barbara will be back home for its next match on Monday against El Camino at 2 p.m.
