    UCSB Hazardous Materials Incident

    The incident is determined to be stabilized and will be turned over to UCSB for cleanup. Fire Hazmat resources are being released. The cause is under investigation.

    UCSB Hazardous Materials Incident Update: Multiple hazmat materials teams are on scene. Firefighters are preparing for a Level A (encapsulated suit) entry for chemical sampling/testing.

    Santa Barbara County Fire Department responded to Elings Hall, Building 226, for a reported chemical waste storage container fire this morning around 11 am. Alarms sounded, and sprinklers activated. Approximately 70 people self-evacuated and there were no injuries reported. Santa Barbara County and Santa Barbara City Fire Hazmat Teams arrived on the scene.
