The Big West announced this week’s winners for Women’s Volleyball Players of the Week. After the votes were counted, UC Santa Barbara’s Grace Wuischpard was named as The Big West’s Defensive Player of the Week.
This is the first accolade of Wuischpard’s career after she averaged 1.5 blocks per set in the Gauchos’ two five-set wins over UC Riverside and UC Davis this week. She finished Thursday’s match against the Highlanders with eight blocks while adding on seven more against the Aggies on Saturday night. To go along with all of that, she also contributed two digs against Riverside.
Wuischpard and the Gauchos will be back in action on Thursday, Oct. 12 as they take on the Mustangs of Cal Poly for the Blue-Green Rivalry match in The Thunderdome as UC Santa Barbara looks to continue their undefeated conference streak.
