Santa Barbara County Animal Services New Hours and Volunteer Opportunities

Santa Barbara County Animal Services is thrilled to announce the expansion of operating hours across all three shelter locations starting Tuesday, October 17th. This initiative is designed to provide greater accessibility to the community, ensuring that pet lovers have more time to visit, adopt, and participate in a variety of services offered by the shelter.

Beginning next week, Santa Barbara County Animal Services’ three shelter locations, situated in Santa Maria, Santa Barbara, and Lompoc, will offer extended hours from Tuesday through Sunday, between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Please note that the shelters will be closed on Mondays and holidays to ensure staff and animals receive essential care.

These new hours are a testament to Santa Barbara County Animal Services’ commitment to providing a welcoming environment and an enhanced experience for both pets and their potential adopters. This expansion aims to accommodate the varying schedules of residents, ultimately leading to increased adoptions and improved welfare for local animals in need. “The extension of our operating hours is a significant step towards achieving our mission of finding loving homes for animals in need,” said Sarah Aguilar, Animal Services Director. “We believe these changes will make our shelters more accessible to the community and enable us to provide more comprehensive services to our beloved pets and their families.”

The expanded hours will offer a wide range of walk-in services, including:

    • Pet Registration and License Renewal: Ensure your pet is properly registered and compliant with local regulations.
    • Free Microchips: Safeguard your furry friends by providing them with a secure and traceable identification.
    • Adoptions: Find your perfect companion among the many loving animals awaiting their forever homes.
    • Foster Matchmaking: Become a foster parent and help animals in need, or find a temporary home for your pet.
    • Pet Pantry: Access donated resources to support your pet’s needs.

Santa Barbara County Animal Services is also excited to announce more opportunities for community members to get involved, support the shelter’s mission, and contribute to the welfare of animals in the community by joining one of our upcoming volunteer orientations starting at 3 PM on the following dates and locations:

    • Santa Maria: Friday, October 20th, or Monday, October 23rd
    • Lompoc: Thursday, October 19th
    • Santa Barbara: Wednesday, October 18th, or Wednesday, October 25th

With these expanded hours, Santa Barbara County Animal Services aims to continue its dedication to animal welfare, community engagement, and the promotion of responsible pet ownership.
