Friends,
Today, we mark a tragic and somber anniversary. Five years ago, heavy rainfall in the aftermath of the Thomas Fire triggered the Montecito Debris Flow, which took the lives of more than twenty Central Coast residents.
Our thoughts are with the families and friends of those we lost that day. We owe it to them, and all others who were impacted by similar disasters in years past, to take the storm and potential flooding we’re facing this week just as seriously.
Right now, atmospheric rivers and high surf have put the entire Central Coast at risk for severe flooding over the next 48 hours–many of you may have already received alerts related to flash flooding warnings and evacuations.
It is critical that you and your family follow updates from your local emergency services to be aware of potential hazards and threats.
