We hope you will join us for Goleta’s City Council meeting this Tuesday, September 19, at 5:30 p.m. (closed session begins at 4:00 p.m.). We encourage you to join us in City Council Chambers, watch live, and/or participate via Zoom. Directions for how to do so can be found on the council agenda. Items on the agenda include:

    • The City Council will receive a presentation of certification from the Blue City Network. The non-profit organization Project O is recognizing the City of Goleta as a certified “Blue City” through the Blue City Network for the City’s commitment to healthy waterways and oceans. As the first certified “Blue City” in Santa Barbara County, the City of Goleta completed a thorough assessment of its environmental initiatives and programs with Project O. • The City Council will hold a public hearing request to amend the Camino Real Specific Plan. The Specific Plan Amendment request is to remove 6975 Santa Felicia Drive (subject site) from the Camino Real Specific Plan. Council will also consider a Development Plan to allow two Medical Office Buildings with a total area of 37,200 square feet and daycare use on that site. • The Council will discuss the City’s Law Enforcement Services Agreement with County of Santa Barbara from July 1, 2023, through June 30, 2027. The City of Goleta contracts with the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office for law enforcement services. Such services are provided pursuant to a written agreement and include, but are not limited to, patrol functions, law enforcement support, traffic enforcement operations, and parking enforcement. • The City Council will discuss the Fiscal Year 2022/23 Fourth Quarter (Year-End) Financial Review (Unaudited). This report provides a financial update on the City’s preliminary actual revenue and expenditure activity through the fourth quarter of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2022/23 Operating and Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Budget. This information is preliminary and provides a review of the revenue and expenditure activity from July 1 through June 30, 2023, and other relevant financial information. Additionally, this report recommends various adjustments to the adopted budget. View the staff report at https://tinyurl.com/45bdfk6z.
    • The Council will receive an update on the Waste Reduction Program. The update includes industry trends, Waste Free Goleta, ReSource Center, new programs and more. To better align with the goals of the division, staff recommend renaming the Public Works Department’s Solid Waste and Environmental Services Division to the “Environmental Services Division,” the Solid Waste program to the “Waste Reduction” program, and the Solid Waste Issues Standing Committee to the “Waste Reduction Standing Committee.” The staff report and presentation can be found here: https://tinyurl.com/43auz5c4.
