Input Sought to Improve Inclusive Mobility and Transportation Services

Santa Barbara County Association of Governments launched a planning effort to make recommendations on improving the transportation network for older adults, people with disabilities, veterans, and other traditionally underrepresented residents.

A plan to evaluate opportunities to improve inclusive access to transportation in Santa Barbara County is underway.

Santa Barbara County Association of Governments (SBCAG) launched a planning effort to update the Coordinated Public Transit-Human Services Transportation Plan (Coordinated Plan).

The Coordinated Plan is the region’s blueprint for planning, funding, and coordinating strategies to serve people with disabilities, residents 65 years or older, veterans, and economically disadvantaged or limited English speakers facing transportation hurdles in getting from one place to another.

The public and organizations who represent residents served by the Coordinated Plan are invited to share experiences accessing and utilizing public transportation in the county.

The aim of collecting feedback is to identify opportunities and recommendations to improve mobility and the efficiency of the public transportation network in Santa Barbara County.

By coordinating transit agencies, the region can work together to better meet the needs of older adults, people with disabilities, veterans, and other traditionally underrepresented residents.

When everyone has access to transportation, the community is a better place to live and work.

Feedback can be provided via an online survey or by attending one of the following online listening sessions:

    • Noon, Tuesday, October 10
    • Noon, Thursday, October 12
    • 10 a.m., Monday, October 16
    • Noon, Tuesday, October 17

To register to attend, the public is encouraged to email info@sbcag.org or call (805) 961-8900. SBCAG is committed to providing access and reasonable accommodations for the listening sessions. Requests should be made 48 hours in advance of public meetings.

The Coordinated Plan in Santa Barbara County was last updated in 2007. The final plan is anticipated to be considered for adoption by the SBCAG Board of Directors in Spring 2024. The final Coordinated Plan will include demographic information, regional transportation resources, a summary of transportation gaps, and recommended strategies for improved transportation access.
