Santa Barbara County Animal Services (SBCAS) is encouraging County residents to “find their lucky charm” by adopting a shelter pet for only $17 this St. Patrick’s Day weekend (a $13 license fee still applies). Our Lucky Charm promotion is available at one of their three County facilities located at 548 W. Foster Rd, Santa Maria and 5473 Overpass Rd, Santa Barbara, on March 16, 17, and 18 from 12 pm – 4 pm and 501 W. Central Ave, Lompoc, on March 17, 18, 19 from 10 am to 6 pm.
With an intake of over 1,000 pets so far this year, SBCAS is currently housing 114 dogs, 159 cats, and 66 rabbits and guinea pigs between their three facilities in Santa Barbara, Santa Maria, and Lompoc. This includes animals in care with SBCAS partners, BUNS and ASAP Cats.
“We’re doing everything we can to encourage the public to foster or adopt a pet,” said Director Sarah Aguilar. “The Lucky Charm promotion is to encourage community members to visit our shelters to find a furry friend to add to your family. There’s no better luck than to have a pet that loves you every day.”
While adoptions are currently the shelter’s biggest need, SBCAS is also encouraging the public to consider giving a pet a home by fostering for as little as two weeks. This allows a pet to decompress from the shelter while learning more about how the pet is in a home.
SBCAS provides all supplies and medical care to fosters.
People who are unable to visit the shelter to foster or adopt, can always make a financial donation or purchase an item from their Amazon wishlist. Community members who want to help – as shelter volunteers, foster homes, or in other ways – can get more information on all our different opportunities at https://linktr.ee/sbcanimalservices
