Of particular note to Goleta residents, the County’s Draft Housing Element Update proposes a significant amount of new housing just outside of the City of Goleta borders, including on agricultural land and the Glen Annie Golf Course.

The Draft Housing Element Update plans for existing and projected housing needs to accommodate 5,664 new housing units within the unincorporated areas of Santa Barbara County between the years 2023 to 2031. It describes countywide policies and programs and identifies a range of sites that will be considered for rezones to meet the required number of housing units.
