    County Behavioral Wellness Commission is Looking to Fill Vacancies

    The Santa Barbara County Behavioral Wellness Commission is currently looking to fill three vacant positions in the Fourth and Fifth Supervisorial Districts. Individuals who have experience and knowledge of the behavioral health system, including both mental health and substance abuse services, and who reflect the ethnic diversity of the County and client population served are strongly encouraged to apply.

    The Commission exists as an advisory board to the Santa Barbara County Department of Behavioral Wellness and the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors regarding the mental health and alcohol and other drug programs and services offered by the County. 

    Each of the five County Supervisors may nominate four voting members, subject to approval by the Board of Supervisors. Fourth District Supervisor Bob Nelson has the opportunity to appoint one member, and Fifth District Supervisor Lavagnino may appoint two. Interested community members do not have to live in the district holding the current vacancy to be eligible to apply.

    The Behavioral Wellness Commission is established per Welfare and Institutions Code requirements with membership appointed by the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors.
