On Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at 2:49 PM, the Goleta Police Department responded to a vehicle versus child traffic collision that occurred in the area of 65 Nectarine Avenue. When deputies arrived, they found a young child suffering from traumatic injuries. The child was immediately transported to an area hospital by ambulance, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The collision is being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office Major Accident Response Team (SMART). The release of the decedent’s identity is pending notification of the next of kin.
The City of Goleta contracts with the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office for police services.
