The California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) is soliciting ideas and input from the public for ways to continue to improve the 7th cycle Regional Housing Needs Allocation (RHNA) process and address California’s housing shortage. This survey is a component of HCD’s broader stakeholder engagement for the California’s Housing Future 2040: The Next RHNA initiative.
What is California’s Housing Future 2040: The Next RHNA?
AB 101 (2019) directs HCD to engage stakeholders and collaborate with the Office of Planning and Research (OPR) to develop recommendations related to the regional housing needs allocation (RHNA) process and methodology. Upon completion of this stakeholder engagement initiative, HCD will compile its findings and recommendations, and will submit a report to the Legislature by December 31, 2023.
HCD is conducting this California’s Housing Future 2040 stakeholder engagement initiative from March – May 2023, which will consist of several venues for stakeholder input. More information about the California’s Housing Future 2040 stakeholder engagement initiative and opportunities for public input can be found on the RHNA webpage.
The survey is organized by five topic areas identified as priorities and should take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. After the survey closes, HCD will summarize and analyze the responses gathered by the survey. HCD will utilize the survey responses to inform HCD’s recommendations for improving the RHNA process and methodology but will not respond to each survey response.
